Dear Leaders;

As we reach the end of celebrating our first 100 years and begin Scouting’s Journey to Excellence, the next 100 years. We wanted to inform you of our roll out of the new performance recognition program called “Scouting’s Journey to Excellence” that replaces the Centennial Quality recognition program.

The attachments will introduce you to the criteria for districts and units. To launch this program we are conducting an extensive schedule of webinars. The “district and unit series” of webinars is intended for district level staff and volunteers as well as unit level volunteers to introduce them to the district and unit level criteria.

We encourage you to participate in the webinar that relates to the program you are involved with. The more we educate now the less confusion there we will be in the future.

It is based on many of the best practices used to currently measure corporate performance. Many of you might recognize this performance based model from your own corporate experiences.

For our series of webinars to educate district level volunteers and staff as well as unit level volunteers you may sign up at http://journey-to-excellence.kintera.org/district-unit. I would like to point out that during the webinar you may hear reference to “submit with rechartering in October” Please remember that the webinar is being presented to a national audience, who may have different rechartering dates than Patriots’ Path Council.

The intent at Patriots’ path Council is to run this program on the calendar year. to distribute the forms to the units in January and to ask all units to return the completed forms, December 1, 2011.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your District Commissioner, District Executive or send your questions to mark.spaldo@scouting.org. For your information, your District Commissioner and District executive are seeing this for the first time just as you are. Please be patient.

Regards,

Mark A. Spaldo
Director of Field Service

Ever wondered what a commissioner was? Or how they can help you? Or what resources there are to help you run your unit? Well the unit service section guides you through this and more. It has an added treat in that units can evaluate their operation with the Self-Evaluation guide. Take advantage of it. You'll also find the Ask Andy Archives here!
