Good Turn for America is a new service initiative for the BSA. It is way for members to focus on service and report all the great things they have already been doing. Good Turn for America will build on Scouting’s current service efforts and will also include important partnerships with other community service organizations.

Scouting for Food – This year we have had many more units participate in Scouting for Food. This is great!!! There are several items that you need to be aware of:

1) Scouting for Food is a Good Turn for America. Make sure to log your service project.

2) When delivering bags, make sure to give a flyer that has pick up time and unit leader contact phone #. We have people call all the time because their food wasn’t picked up. It is hard for us to assist them and it creates bad will when they can’t get an immediate pick up.

3) Bags are going quick. We ordered the same amount as last year and the bags are almost gone. They are donated from Shop Rite, so when they are gone – we will not be getting any more for some time. Make sure you don’t take too many or have them sit around at home. Return the unused boxes please.

Eagle Projects – Don’t forget that Eagle Projects are also Good Turn for America. We have hundreds of Eagles, but only a handful ever ends up on the web site. Life and star projects should be posted too. Make sure you get the projects posted on Good Turn for America.

This is an ongoing effort that will be in place until the BSA’s 100th anniversary in 2010. So get started now! Along with the National results, the Patriots’ Path Council will be announcing local unit achievements and service hours here in the Pathfinder and in other council publications and events.
